THE CENTRO DI SOLIDARIETÀ DI GENOVA
The Centro Solidarietá di Genova was born as a Volunteer Association in 1973, founded by Bianca Costa and a group of volunteers, with the aim of tackling problems linked with youth exclusion and in particular with drug addiction.  Today it is a structure made by the Association itself, a Foundation and a Social Cooperative, namely three entities that interact in the pursuit of a single institutional mission.  Over the years, activities have expanded to responsibly answer to the rise of new uneasinesses, offering assistance to families and individual counseling to all young people so that they can find in the Centro a point of reference.  Currently, the Centro is recognized by the Regione Liguria as an Accredited body for drug addictions and is a non-governmental body of the UN.

THE CENTRO DI SOLIDARIETá IS
100 volunteers.  60 trained workers and counsellors with specialistic expertise, consolidated in years of service and support: professional educators, psychologists, educators, doctors, lawyers, psychiatrists, nurses and administratives who passionately devote to the Centro.  130 volunteers engaged in various activities to support and assist the hosts.  Several thousand families are followed from'73 to the present. 800 people fully reintegrated into society.

OBJECTIVES AND PROGRAMS
Each activity of the Centro aims to enhance the individuality of the person, take self-awareness, promote growth and orient it towards virtuous life choices. This is the primary goal of each of the three areas of activity: Traditional, Specialist and Reduction of the damage.

PREVENTION
The prevention project of the Centro di Solidarietá di Genova focuses on adolescence with its psycho-social, interpersonal and existential problems.  The goal is to raise and improve the quality of life, encouraging health promotion and protection. Moreover, it wants to play strong counselling for schools and support for families.

REHABILITATION FROM DRUG ADDICTION
The Centro has always been a reception point for all young people that pass hard times for the abuse of drugs and that may require any form of assistance, from the most basic, like a free meal or a bed with clean sheets , to more specific and professional ones. A constant presence will accompany them in changing their lifestyle.  The rehabilitation program is tailored, respecting the privacy, and includes three stages: Reception, Therapeutic Community, Social Reintegration with vocational training and recuperation of lost school years.

FAMILY COUNSELLING
Members of families who are close to the Centro to find support or a guide for themselves or their children are offered different moments of individual or group assistance to facilitate a more spontaneous communication, more open and intense relations, respecting the each one’s role and individuality.
